Langerado Recap | April 2, 2008

Where to begin? As soon as Matis arrived in Big Cypress he was interviewed by Jambase TV. Click here to see the interview. Then he rushed onstage with Ozomalti where he dropped a verse from "Close My Eyes" into one of their infectious grooves. Less than an hour later the Wailers called Matis up for a rousing version of "No Woman, No Cry". This included a verse from "Exaltation", a flashback to the famous appearance with Trey Anastasio at Bonnaroo 2005. All this before the start of Shabbos.
Matis took the stage about 1 hour after Shabbos ended.

This was the first show with Jason Fraticelli as full time bass player. (He had previuosly filled in during a few show in December 2005 while Josh was home visiting his family.) He came out of the gate fast and furious. The energy surrounding Matis, with Aaron on one side and Jason on the other, brought the show to peak after peak after peak. There were originally a few more songs on the setlist but the jams went so out there that time just ran away. This resulted, to many fans dismay, in the first show that anyone could remember where King Without A Crown was not played. The new song "I Will Be Light" met with tremendous approval, as did the cover of "Morning Dew", which Matis introduced as his tribute to "good" music. Late night Saturday. In a reprise of last year, Matis joined the Disco Biscuits on Stage to cover the Beatle’s song "Tomorrow Never Knows". Click here to listen or download. It’s the third track.
