The most insane moment of Jewish music history ever happened just the other night ...Idan Raichel and dj handler were all set to perform at Irving Plaza when Shemspeed's good friends Matisyahu and Y-Love let us know they are coming through. We suggest that all of them do a song together. Everyone is psyched and the second they hit the stage it is like a bomb of excitement went off with the sold out thousand+ crowd! EXCITING NEWS

ALL TYPES OF EXCITING NEWS

Matisyahu is already out on the road. He did three exciting shows in Hawaii and
is currently in Alaska for three nights. Next week, he returns to take the
Continental  U.S. by storm. And there are lots of ways for you to get
involved.

First of all, we set up The Bridge, The official Matisyahu fan community
message board. You DO NOT have to be a member of the Bridge to use the message
board. Just click here to sign up: Message Board Registration. On
the board you can talk with other fans, hear about the tour in progress,
discuss the music, and generally share about the difference Matisyahu is making
in everyone's life.

Next up, we have the debut of a newsletter, Runaway Truck. This
newsletter will include setlists and reviews from recent shows, upcoming tour
dates, notes from the road, and all the other Matisyahu information anyone
could want. Since this is a project of the fan community, we need your
assistance. We are especially looking for reviews of recent concerts. There've
been numerous comments on MySpace about the Hawaii and Alaska shows so now we
want to hear from you. Of course we want information about the music: what songs
really moved you; how is the new expanded band; did they play everything
you hoped for. But also tell us what the scene was like: did you meet a lot of
fans, was there a big scene in the parking lot, we want to hear about the whole
experience. The best reviews will be published in the printed newsletter and
we'll put as many as we can in the online version. You can also submit poetry,
artwork, or anything else that has been inspired by Matisyahu. Just note, the
printed version of the newsletter is black and white. Please post your
submissions to torahvibes@yahoo.com  .
The first newsletter is coming out next week, so start writing.

Runaway Truck will be distributed at shows this summer by the Matisyahu
Street Team.
At each city on tour we're assembling fans who want to
participate in spreading the Matisyahu message. Your job will be to distribute
newsletters at the venue and you'll be wearing your official (and free) Matisyahu
Street Team
t-shirt. These are especially designed for members of the
street team and you'll pick them up with your newsletters. To sign up for this
opportunity, send an email to

torahvibes@yahoo.com . Please put in
the subject line the show you'll be attending. You will receive a reply with
all the pertinent information.

We're looking forward to an AWESOME summer, and the more people who get
involved with the community, the better.

Here's a bio of Aaron Ali Shaikh from All About Jazz:

AARON ALI SHAIKH (03.31.1982) is moving towards the realization of the saxophone as a true microtonal instrument. This style deepens the tradition of early American saxophone players of the 1900s. Microtonalilty itself is among the most ancient perceptions of sound organization and is found in most traditional music as well as being in line with the ancient voice (Qawaali singers). The move towards a saxophone-derived compositional process has been developing.

The son of a Pakistani (Sindhi) immigrant Shaikh was born and raised in Cleveland, OH where he began studying music by way of the piano at the age of three. After a decade he began the saxophone studies that have carried out until the present day. In 2000, Shaikh moved to New York City to study Jazz and Psychology at the New School University. Since then he has had the opportunity to perform and record with many including: Cecil Taylor, Jackson Moore, Brandon Evans, Jackson Krall, Mat Maneri, Randy Peterson, Matt Moran, Nasheet Waits, Nate Wooley, Anthony Braxton, Carlos Icaza, Daniel Carter, Mike Pride, Dynamite Club, Chris Jonas and Leland Scott Davis. He has also had the opportunity to tour outside of the U.S. presenting music to audiences in Japan, Australia and Canada.

Shaikh currently resides in Brooklyn and acts as co-curator of the New Languages Festival.

Matisyahu to headline multiple nights at Hammerstain Ballroom in NYC this December for the first annual Festival of Light concert series

"It has been two short years since Matisyahu married Hasidic Judaism and reggae. But with the March release of 'Youth,' the rapper-singer crashed alternative rock's barrier and connected with an audience that has rarely heard the spiritual message from either party Matisyahu represents."
-Phil Gallo, Variety "Power Issue," 8/31/2006

Oct. 11, 2006-Following a busy season of touring and major festival appearances alongside some of the biggest names in music such as Kanye West, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Radiohead, Matisyahu will give his hometown fans a holiday treat this Hannukah when he kicks off "The First Annual Festival of Light" concert series at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Matisyahu will be joined by his band Roots Tonic and a different special opening act each night on Dec. 16-19.

Fan club pre-sale date is Oct. 11 at 4pmET through Matisyahu's new official website, matisyahuworld.com, where fans can join "The Bridge," the official Matisyahu fan club, and have exclusive access to tickets before public sale. The Live Nation pre-sale will be Oct. 16 at noon and tickets will go on sale to the public at noon on Oct. 19, with all tickets priced at $30.

Critics have praised his ability to draw fans from unexpected places with his "hypnotic blend of reggae and rap music" (San Jose Mercury News). Paste Online raved about his appearance at the Austin City Limits Festival, saying, "Matisyahu performed on the same stage as Gnarls Barkley did earlier in the weekend, but the saturated air and the glaring sun didn't prevent him from putting on the performance of the festival. With his unconventional dance moves, infectious songs and moments of deep space dub, he made an irresistible impression." (Jim Caliguri, 10/4/06)

Matisyahu's latest studio release, the gold-certified YOUTH (Epic) debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200, has garnered critical acclaim worldwide and continues to be a Top 5 mainstay in the Billboard reggae charts.

New Album Youth In Stores Now!

Matisyahu's new studio album, Youth, is in stores now!
Produced by Bill Laswell, with additional production by Jimmy Douglass and Ill Factor, Youth, features 11 new songs including recent live favorites "Fire of Heaven / Altar of Earth (Fire's Burning)," "Jerusalem," "Ancient Lullaby (Mist Risin'), and the title track, "Youth."

Youth debuted at #4 this week on the Billboard 200. It's a remarkable turn for the 26-year old Brooklynite, who has seen his career skyrocket in the year since he recorded his gold-certified Live At Stubbs, which moves to #36 on the chart this week, making Matisyahu the only artist with two albums currently in the Top 40. Thanks to everyone who picked up the albums to make this happen!
