This week we have the third episode of the Matisyahu 2009 Tour Journal.  We jump on the bus to speak with Matis and dive into the first row for “Smash Lies” off the new album Light.  This clip also takes us through Birmingham, New Orleans, Asheville, and Charleston. On the cover of his third and newest studio album, Light, we see a sun-washed photo of Matisyahu looking nothing short of tranquil. Gone is the black suit and wide-brimmed hat, traditional garb of the Hasidic Jewish faith he adopted long ago and still very much embraces. But five years have passed since Matisyahu was introduced as an almost impossible pop creation — a Hasid who rapped about life and faith over dance-hall reggae and dub grooves.

Matisyahu, whose music merges Hasidic Judaism with reggae beats, hip-hop and rock, is lending his voice to NBC's promotion of the 2010 Winter Olympics. The network has chosen his uplifting anthem "One Day" as the theme song for its "Countdown to Vancouver" promotional campaign.

"One Day," the anthemic first single off the Brooklyn MC and Hasidic Jew's new album, Light, will soundtrack NBC promos for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Team Matisyahu is looking for a fan videographer to join the tour. We’re looking for one lucky fan to snap photos, videotape live performances, and record backstage footage. You must have prior experience in video editing and camera operations.

This is an unpaid position, videographer will travel on the tour bus, the candidate will be provided a daily stipend. The ideal candidate will be available at least one week or more between 11/10 - 12/10.
